NEWSLETTER JANUARY 2006

2006 Exchange visit to Laon MAY 26th TO 29th

The Association has learnt that during this year's visit an official ceremony will be held to name the "Winchester" roundabout. There will also be opportunities for photographs.

French friends now need to know the numbers of visitors to expect. To help the Committee here to put in place the necessary arrangements for accommodation, travel etc., please advise June before the end of February. Even if you don't plan to come this year it would be appreciated if you would let her know.

Hurry! Don't miss the Association's Barn Dance - open to all members and their friends.

The Association's "Bal de St Valentin" is on February 11th 2006 at Littleton Memorial Hall. A live band and caller will be on hand to lead the entertainment. Doors will open at 7.30pm. A complimentary glass of wine on arrival is included and soft drinks will be on sale throughout the evening. You can also bring your own bottle of wine if you wish. There is ample car parking at the hall.

Tickets are £7.50 per person or £20.00 for a family of up to four. For tickets please ring June on 01962 or Thierry De Nitto on 01962 626962.

Fête du Printemps

An opportunity to enjoy a social evening and meet our French student teacher guests at a "bring & share supper" Once again this year we are combining our spring social event with an opportunity for all members to meet and welcome the annual party of French student teachers.

The social will be held at St Lawrence Church Hall, Colebrook Street, Winchester on Tuesday March 7th 2006 commencing at 7.30pm. All participants (except French guests) are asked to bring a main dish enough for four people, desserts and wine will be provided by the Committee and the Association. To cover the cost of the hall members will be charged £4.00 per person.

Please contact June if you would like to attend.

A successful Fête des Rois evening

More than thirty members joined in a most enjoyable evening with games followed by a splendid supper with appropriate liquid refreshments.

Thanks all round to Committee members and others whose hard work and culinary skills contributed to this successful evening.
